ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Are you a Scotch expert or do you wish you were? Portland Cocktail Week and Ardbeg have teamed up to offer you Edinburgh Whisky Academy’s best in class Scotch Whisky Certification.
Scotch is one of the most venerated and mythologized categories of spirits, but we seldom get access to the educators, distilleries, and luminaries in the category. But, that all changes this Summer. Portland Cocktail Week, Ardbeg, and the Edinburgh Whisky Academy developed this first-of-its-kind Scotch Whisky Certification Program for American bartenders. Be part of the second group of 50 bar professionals to receive your certification in Scotch Whisky, approved by the Scottish Qualifications Authority! That’s right, this program is government-recognized!
Over the five-week program, the Edinburgh Whisky Academy and the team at Ardbeg will guide you through in-depth educational programming and hands-on training with some of our favorite Scotch Whiskies.
Each week, we will dive deep into all things Scotch—from history to production techniques each Monday through Wednesday.
THE CLASSES
EWA PRIVATE SESSIONS
Mondays at 1 pm ET, 1:30 pm CT, 1 pm PT
Expect modules focused on a specific Scotch topic each week. These thought-provoking modules will leave you eager to experiment with your favorite drams and thirsty for more whisky knowledge.
DROP-IN-DRAM PRIVATE SESSIONS
Tuesdays at 2 pm ET, 1 pm PT
During Drop-In-Dram, you can ask all your pressing questions and share a dram with your classmates. These are more networking and socially driven events, but they’re also a place to get one-on-one time with your classmates, educators, and those who make these storied whiskies.
PUBLIC ARDBEG CLASSES
Wednesday at 2 pm ET
We’re talking Islay. We’re talking Scotch. We’re talking Ardbeg. Each Wednesday, you can expect education delivered by the people who make Ardbeg. Classes will feature Cameron George, David Blackmore, and members of the Ardbeg team, ready to share all things Scotch. You can catch these shows whether or not you join the cohort! Each session will be broadcast on PDXCW’s Facebook and YouTube channels.
